Ingredients

  • 2 oz whiskey (bourbon or rye)
  • 1/2 fresh lemon, cut into wedges
  • 6-8 fresh mint leaves
  • 1/2 oz simple syrup (adjust to taste)
  • Ice cubes
  • Mint sprig and lemon slice for garnish

Directions

Step 1

Muddle. In a cocktail shaker, combine the lemon wedges and mint leaves. Using a muddler or the back of a spoon, gently press down to release the lemon juice and mint oils. Be careful not to over-muddle, as this can make the drink bitter.

Step 2

Add Whiskey and Simple Syrup. Pour in the whiskey and simple syrup. Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less syrup as desired.

Step 3

Shake. Fill the shaker with ice, cover, and shake vigorously for about 10-15 seconds until well chilled.

Step 4

Strain and Serve. Strain the mixture into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice. Garnish with a sprig of mint and a slice of lemon for an extra touch.

Recipe tips
