These juicy turkey burgers are a lighter, healthier alternative to beef burgers, yet packed with flavor. Made with simple ingredients like ground turkey, breadcrumbs, and a few seasonings, these burgers come out tender, moist, and absolutely delicious. They’re perfect for grilling outdoors or cooking on a stovetop, making them a versatile dish for any time of year.
Prepare the turkey mixture. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground turkey, breadcrumbs, egg, chopped onion, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and paprika. Mix gently until just combined. Avoid over-mixing to keep the burgers tender.
Form the patties. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions. Shape each portion into a patty, about 1/2 inch thick.
Heat the pan or grill. If using a stovetop, heat a skillet or grill pan over medium heat and add olive oil. For grilling, preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
Cook the patties. Cook the turkey patties for about 6-7 minutes on each side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C). If grilling, turn once halfway through cooking.
Toast the buns. While the patties cook, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a pan until golden.
Assemble the burgers. Place each cooked patty on the bottom half of the bun, then top with lettuce, tomato, pickles, or any other desired toppings. Add the top half of the bun and serve immediately.
Ground turkey can dry out easily. Adding an egg and breadcrumbs helps retain moisture. For extra flavor, add a tablespoon of Dijon mustard or a sprinkle of grated Parmesan to the turkey mixture. Try avocado slices, caramelized onions, or a dollop of spicy mayo for an extra kick. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty to prevent it from puffing up while cooking.
