Ingredients

  • For the Chicken Marinade

  • 1 lb (450g) chicken thighs or breasts, sliced
  • 3 tbsp Greek yogurt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • For the Gyros

  • 4 large pita breads
  • 1 cup cucumber, diced
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/2 cup feta cheese, crumbled
  • For the Tzatziki Sauce

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cucumber, grated
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp fresh dill, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

Step 1

Marinate the Chicken. In a bowl, mix together the Greek yogurt, olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, red wine vinegar, oregano, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Add the chicken slices and mix until well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour for best flavor.

Step 2

Prepare the Tzatziki Sauce. While the chicken marinates, prepare the tzatziki sauce. In a bowl, combine Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, garlic, lemon juice, and dill. Season with salt and pepper. Chill until ready to use.
