Ingredients

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp melted butter
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for optional glaze)
  • 1-2 tsp milk (for optional glaze)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat Oven. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

Prepare the Cinnamon Sugar. In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon, mixing until well blended.

Step 3

Roll Out the Puff Pastry. Lightly flour your surface and roll out the puff pastry sheet into a thin rectangle, approximately 12x10 inches.

Step 4

Brush with Butter. Lightly brush the surface of the pastry with melted butter to help the cinnamon-sugar stick.

Step 5

Sprinkle Cinnamon Sugar. Evenly sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture across the entire sheet of puff pastry.

Step 6

Fold and Cut. Fold the pastry in half lengthwise and gently press down. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice the folded pastry into 12 strips.

Step 7

Twist the Strips. Take each strip and twist it several times, then place it on the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between each twist.

Step 8

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.

Step 9

Optional Glaze. While the twists bake, whisk powdered sugar and milk together to create a light glaze. Drizzle over the twists after they’ve slightly cooled.

Recipe tips

For extra crunch and flavor, sprinkle a little coarse sugar on top before baking. If you prefer a richer twist, try adding a dash of vanilla extract to the melted butter before brushing. These taste best when fresh but can be reheated in the oven to regain crispiness.
