Ingredients

  • 2 cups broth (chicken, beef, or vegetable)
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • ¼ cup cold water
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional

  • 1 tablespoon butter for added richness

Directions

Step 1

Heat the broth. In a medium saucepan, bring 2 cups of your chosen broth to a simmer over medium heat.

Mix cornstarch and water. While the broth is heating, in a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and ¼ cup cold water until smooth.

Add cornstarch mixture to broth. Once the broth is simmering, slowly whisk in the cornstarch mixture. Stir continuously to avoid lumps.
