Ingredients

  • For the Donuts

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup milk
  • ¼ cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • For the Glaze (Optional)

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1–2 tbsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • For Cinnamon Sugar Coating (Optional)

  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp melted butter (for brushing)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat Oven. Set the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a donut pan with non-stick spray.

Step 2

Combine Dry Ingredients. In a medium bowl, mix the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.

Step 3

Combine Wet Ingredients. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, Greek yogurt, egg, vanilla extract, and melted butter.

Step 4

Mix the Batter. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined, being careful not to overmix.

Step 5

Fill the Donut Pan. Spoon the batter into a piping bag or use a spoon to fill each donut cavity about ¾ full.

Step 6

Bake. Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 10 minutes, or until the donuts are lightly golden and a toothpick comes out clean.

Step 7

Cool. Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

Step 8

Add Toppings (Optional). For the glaze, whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth, then dip each donut top. For cinnamon sugar, brush each donut with melted butter, then dip in cinnamon-sugar mixture.

Recipe tips

Overmixing can lead to dense donuts. Stir until ingredients are just combined. Bake until the donuts are just golden and spring back when lightly pressed. This keeps them soft and fluffy. Try adding a dash of nutmeg, cinnamon, or cocoa powder to the batter for different flavor profiles. For a perfect glaze finish, dip donuts while still slightly warm. It will stick better and create a lovely shine.
