Ingredients

  • 10 fresh mint leaves, plus extra for garnish
  • 1/2 lime, cut into 4 wedges
  • 2 teaspoons sugar (or to taste)
  • 1/2 cup club soda
  • 1 1/2 oz white rum
  • Ice cubes

Directions

Step 1

Muddle the mint and lime. In a sturdy glass, combine the mint leaves and 1 lime wedge. Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to gently crush the mint and lime to release their oils and juice. Add 2 more lime wedges and the sugar, then muddle again to mix the flavors.

Step 2

Add the rum. Pour the white rum over the muddled mint and lime mixture. Stir well to combine the flavors.

Step 3

Fill with ice. Fill the glass with ice cubes, almost to the top.

Step 4

Top with club soda. Add the club soda to the glass, stirring gently to mix everything together.

Step 5

Garnish and serve. Garnish with the remaining lime wedge and a few extra mint leaves for a fresh, vibrant look. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Recipe tips

For an extra minty flavor, slap the mint leaves between your palms before muddling to release more of their essential oils. Adjust the sweetness to your liking by adding more or less sugar. You can also substitute sugar with honey or simple syrup for a smoother taste. If you prefer a slightly stronger drink, increase the amount of rum or use a splash of sparkling water instead of club soda.
