Ingredients

  • 1 bottle (750 ml) white wine (such as a light Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc)
  • 2 cups fresh apple cider
  • 1/4 cup brandy
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup or honey (optional for sweetness)
  • 1 apple, thinly sliced
  • 1 orange, thinly sliced
  • 1 pear, thinly sliced
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • Fresh cranberries, for garnish (optional)
  • Ice, as needed
  • Sparkling water or club soda (optional, for topping)

Directions

Step 1

Combine Ingredients. In a large pitcher, pour in the white wine, apple cider, brandy, and maple syrup or honey (if desired for additional sweetness).

Step 2

Add Fruits and Spices. Add the sliced apple, orange, pear, and cinnamon sticks. Stir well to combine all ingredients.

Step 3

Chill (Optional). For best flavor, cover the pitcher and let the sangria chill in the refrigerator for at least 1-2 hours, or up to 24 hours to allow the flavors to meld.

Step 4

Serve. Before serving, give it a quick stir. Pour the sangria into glasses filled with ice, and garnish each glass with fresh cranberries for a festive touch, if desired.

Step 5

Add Fizz (Optional). Top with a splash of sparkling water or club soda if you like a bit of fizz in your sangria.

Recipe tips

Letting the sangria sit for a few hours (or even overnight) enhances the flavors as the fruits infuse into the wine. For the best results, use fresh, unfiltered apple cider if available. Taste the sangria before adding any additional sweetener. You may find the apple cider is sweet enough, especially if you use a sweeter wine. If you enjoy a spicier sangria, add a few whole cloves or a star anise.
